The Whiting Public Library is a landmark structure that the citizens of the community have come to love and recognize by its turrets and unique Romanesque architecture. The library has matured with time. It has grown from 2,500 books in 1905 to over 108,000 items today and increased the number of registered borrowers from 600 to nearly 7,000 with an annual circulation of 74,000. Over the years, the library has seen its share of changes including two major renovations.
