Library Cards
You can get a free Resident Evergreen library card if you are:
- A resident of the city of Whiting
- A property owner in the city of Whiting (please bring in a copy of your Property Taxes)
You can get a free Reciprocal Borrowers library card with limited access if you are:
- A non-resident (or property owner) in a Library District that participates in the Indiana State-Wide Reciprocal Borrowing Program. You must bring your “home” library card when you sign-up for a Whiting Library Card.
What you need to bring with you:
You must present proof of residence when signing up for a card. One way to do this is to present an official government ID showing your current name and address, such as a driver’s license or passport. However, we realize that when you’ve recently moved, you may not be able to update the information on these IDs right away. Along with your photo ID, you must present one of the following: a computer generated credit card bill; bank statement or utility bill, doctor or hospital bill, or lease agreement issued within the past 30 days that shows both your full name and your current address.
If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must be present, and they must sign your application when you apply for a library card. Proof of residence must be presented in the parent or guardian’s name.
