Donate Books or Materials
The Library accepts gifts of gently used books and materials. These items are sold in our Friends of the Library used book sales to generate funds for the Library. Either way, your gift benefits the Library and is greatly appreciated. Donated items should be bagged or boxed in containers that do not need to be returned to you.
Give a Financial Gift
Each year the library still needs help with these areas:
- Producing educational programs for children, adults, and staff
- Funding special programs or projects, including technology enhancements
Another way to give is through a planned gift. A charitable bequest through a will or trust, no matter what size, demonstrates your desire to create a legacy for others through the services of the Whiting Public Library.
Any gift is greatly appreciated, and no amount is too small. For more information please contact the Library Business Office at (219) 659-0269 x112, or view the Gift Policy.
Become a Friend of the Library
The Friends of the Library is a national network of enthusiastic library supporters who believe in the importance of libraries as the social and intellectual center of the community. No one has a stronger voice for libraries than those who use them, raise money for them, and govern them. By uniting these voices, library supporters everywhere will become a real force to be reckoned with at the local, state, and national levels.
Whiting’s Friends of the Library follow in this rich history. Throughout the year they provide the library with financial and physical assistance in a variety of ways. They hold two annual book sales in addition to hosting several library programs for the community free of charge.
